You’re never going to be a consistent closer if you don’t prioritise your health and wellbeing.
Today, I'll explain how to maintain consistent levels of high performance as a remote closer by prioritising your health and well-being.
Sales can be an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you are on top of the world closing deals left and right and the next you are in a rut feeling stressed, rejected and like you couldn’t close a door.
Over 12 or so years of working in and around sales, I have realised that the only way to enjoy more of the highs and minimise the lows (while handling them emotionally) is to prioritise your wellness.
Unfortunately...
Many sales pros neglect their health and well-being, hindering their ability to perform at their best due to a lack of awareness about the impact of health on performance and underestimating the importance of sleep, nutrition, and exercise in remote closing.
But fear not!
I'm here to show you how to overcome these obstacles and unlock your full potential using this wellness routine that I have been working on for the past 5 years.
Before diving into the routine, I can’t stress enough how important it is to get the foundations right. Quality sleep, eating clean(ish) and moderating toxins like alcohol will set you up for success more than any routine. But once you’re taking care of your body implementing this routine, heavily inspired by The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod will push you over the top and should lead to a very lucrative nomadic path for you.
Now, let’s get into it:
Step 1: Affirmations
Take a few moments to say your goals out loud and affirm your ability to achieve them. Affirmations are a powerful tool for boosting confidence and motivation, especially when it comes to creating your dream life through remote closing.
I used affirmations to overcome self-doubt and fears of rejection, empowering me to approach sales calls with a positive mindset and belief in my abilities.

Step 2: Visualise success
Visualising yourself accomplishing the things you want to achieve, what your life will look like when you achieve these things and how that will feel makes it more likely to happen. The best quote I heard last year was “thoughts become things”. It’s so true.
If you visualise yourself accomplishing something you’ll begin to reprogram your subconscious and override the limiting beliefs that are preventing you from succeeding. Then if you take action you will make it happen.
A big mistake people make here is not incorporating how you feel when this stuff happens. This is super important. without a strong emotion, what you are visualising won’t seem enough real to be recorded as a memory.
Here is the template I use:

Step 3: Gratitude walk
Gratitude helps you focus on the positive aspects of your life, big or small.
I never regret going on my wealth walk. When I get back, I always feel in a better mood, more and overall just a little bit warmer inside and optimistic about the life I am creating and the direction I’m going in.
I also feel like this rubs off on how I interact with people throughout the day on my calls. I feel like being more helpful, compassionate and just easygoing in general, feeling confident in my headspace and knowing that I have it pretty good in life.
When you get back, sit down and write down 6 things you are grateful for to cement it and also to potentially look back on from time to time.
Step 4: Meditation
I’ve been meditating using Headspace for years now, and although it’s subtle, it is what gives you the biggest edge in sales, once you know how to sell.
Practising meditation consistently teaches you to observe the thoughts going through your mind. As you become more aware of what is going through your mind, you can slow down and be more present.
Here are the three most noticeable ways meditation helps me as a remote closer:
It allows me to listen to my prospects better, be less reactive when people challenge me on calls and let go when I get rejected by prospects who don’t want to go ahead. All of this leads to better sales conversations, less attachment, more sales and more inner peace.
Step 5: Feed your mind with Audible
Listening to personal growth books will shape your worldview, refine your values, and develop the mindset and skills you need at the time.
A big mistake people make here is not listening to what you need right now. Don’t just listen to random self-help books because they are popular. Work out what you are struggling with at this point in time e.g. conversation skills, spirituality, objection handling, living a life true to you and then find a good book to read on the topic.
I like to use Audible as I can listen to it for 15-20 minutes every morning while I’m making breakfast. If you prefer to read please feel free. When I try and read I find I lose the consistency, however.
Step 6: Exercise
Finally, I do some form of physical activity to get my blood pumping and energy flowing.
I alternate between the gym, running or surfing at the moment. But do whatever works for you so you can stay consistent. Exercise is essential for maintaining optimal energy levels and mental sharpness throughout the day.
If you are travelling I recommend getting a Freeletics membership for workouts you can do from anywhere.
Summary
By incorporating these holistic practices into your daily routine, you'll optimize your health and well-being and unlock your full potential as a high-performing remote closer by giving yourself the mindset, drive and life energy to make the deals happen month-in-month-out.
Remember, your health is one of your greatest assets. Prioritize it and watch all elements of your life improve especially your success as a closer.
